Ub Iwerks was Walt's animator in terms of bringing the mouse couple to life, but Walt was the one to conjure up the idea, which is why Walt IS Mickey's creator, just as Jim Henson IS The Muppets' creator despite the fact that The Classic Muppets (those of The Muppet Show & Muppet Babies) are now owned--ironically--by The Walt Disney Company.
