I saw Hovis at Manchester Carling in 2003 ( I think). He was on in support of Half Man Half Biscuit and was very funny. His spot was partly disrupted by some stupid t**t hurling insults. But Hovis rose above this - a cracking performer. God Bless you mate RIP.

Presley's towering talent was completely ruined by the accompanying guitar, which spoilt the timing and the atmosphere. He was so much funnier without it.

I knew Hovis (Richard) was was a real character around town, and the guitarist steve was a really good player he could Eddie Van Halen for fun. Both good blokes, they did good work. A shame what happened... still as his poem Ex " as good things go - She went " God bless Richard

never ever heard of this man before 2 weeks ago but was listening to radio 4 (yes i really am that sad!) and they were doing a tribute to him. what a fabulous poet!! what a clever brilliant observant mind and what a shock to hear that he died a few years ago. isn't it amazing how the most brilliant minds are "trapped" and they all go mad. can't stop watching this just need a way to download it on my ipod!!! rip hovis you were fab!!

Brilliant. Definitely a pre-cursor to Peter Kay.
