I must call shenangians on this video. It takes the sound a few seconds to get from the pad to the location where this was shot from. The sounds you hear on the video may be authentic, but I think they were adjusted to that you hear them right when the shuttle begins to move upward. In my experience, you don't hear any sound until a few moments later, when the shuttle is already in the air. My two cents.

There's no point in telling people who've never seen one how loud and huge a shuttle launch is. There is no frame of reference. If the world were ever destroyed by space monsters it's the sound I would expect.
