ahahah completely agree. not to mention the Ramones, Spoon, The White Stripes, and countless other influential and excellent bands that have come from the US in the past 4 decades.

yes more bands that are "relevant" since the pixies have been british, but we have some pretty dam good ones including: modest mouse and tv on the radio to name a couple
but truthfully, we have the best "indie" bands on this side of the ocean...
plus we gave you the talking heads, who are great enough to make up for every single bad band since, seeing as 90% of the new bands are talking head rip-offs....

The National are the best and only relevant band to come out of America since The Pixies. They are so good they should be British :-)

indeed, and its a bad idea to use irony where you should be putting forth a positive, friendly message.
It was an inappropriate music choice. I totally love this song, but if I was in charge of that video I would've found a more suitable song.

i heard the same thing, and was TOTALLY CONFUSED because this song is not about the good side of America. It's not a hope filled song. It's beautiful, but cynical. It's not about a brighter tomorrow.
