It almost sounds like this version is keyed one half-step below the others. This version sounds like it's in E Major, and not F Major.

Whilst I can see the use of 'song' was perfectly normal thing to do, seeing that 'piece' and 'song' are synonymous in mordern language (though song suggests an independent vocal work, comprised of the piece itself), I do not see that anyone was attacking your use of the word; they were simply politely reminding you that there is a difference, and for that, I see no need for asperitous language on your end (though I can understand being tired at that time of day).

It's a piece. It's a concerto. It is not, however, a song. A song has a specific melody and words. Unless you get into certain composers' "songs without words" (which have a distinct, singable melody like a song, but the composer has left the choice of text, if any, up to the performer). This piece is not one of those exceptions though.
