The roots of the crisis go back to the early 1970s when finance was "liberalized" from the constraints of the post-war period (1945-1970). These constraints were instituted by the US & UK for a reason: because it was assumed CORRECTLY that allowing governments to control capital movements & currencies would provide a basis for rapidly expanding growth in trade, which indeed happened. Ron Paul should have been our President. He doesn't go along with the "Stick Up" done by the finaciers of the banks.

i've been saying this very thing....the only guy that seems to have a handle on where the bailout will take us and the "smart economic guys" aren't listening to him. they just keep plodding ahead with blinders on...amazing!!!
