that is how its done in alot of African American southern churches the elder women of the church get down on the "Mourning Bench" and cry out to God in a intimate way thats the music i grew up on i love it, it lets u take the song and just get personal with God through all your pain and your hardships you can just cry out to him sometimes words arent even sung some times u just groan the melody because of the power and presence of God u cant even express how u feel and just have to groan

A native italian catholic is proud to kneel down with his heart at the Lord that dear old Mahalia (RIP)is praising and thanking for taking her from dark to light, from homeless to sharing God's royal rooms, and for leading her to testify with her inimitable, extra-wonderful voice, the good she's received from Him without deserving any! She is herself a hymn to the Lord's mercy and love and I'm just unable to properly express my gratitude to God and to her.

Mama Mahaila Jackson is a great gospel singer.
Mama Mahaila is well know for her song during the March on Washington in 1963, because she sang to get people to fight for freedom, justice and equality.
Also to be self-empowered.
What a beautiful and a self-empowered woman in body, mind and spirit.
