Pet tigers = very bad mistake, they don't stay small for very long! Not to mention the cost of feeding them, spraying everywhere, not wanting to be petted like a domestic cat. Also if you wanna go on vacation, who's gonna look after your pet tiger = no one! Thanks for watching.

Well at least you know the truth now, alot of places call themselves sanctuaries, yet a true sanctuary like Big Cat Rescue does not breed their cats and then take them out in public to line their pockets. The awful thing about these places is that they always seem to have new tiny cubs and there is no sign of the older ones who have been put back into breeding more cats or have been killed for their fur/bodyparts.

Unfortunately it probably is true, laws change from state to state, but in over half of the United States it is legal to own a big cat as a pet. The trade in exotic animals is second only to the drug trade worldwide also, tigers are valued for their fur and body parts that are used in many asian medicines - there is thought to be more tigers in captivity in Texas and Florida than there is in the wild, sad but true.

This is true although very rare in the wild it does sometimes happen, though these cubs would either be killed outright by their mother or would starve to death due to their colouration all of their prey animals would see them from a mile away. We are more concerned with the breeding of white tigers just to display in zoos or animal shows and all the "throw away" tigers that are produced as a result of breeding for white tigers that get sold as pets or killed for their fur and body parts.

Question: When an animal is inbreed, each new generation that is enbreed becomes more & more aggressive & mentaly unstable but could have a mental throwback from the first generation correct?
Ex.) Father and Daughter = offspring that is calm. 9 generations of aggresive later, the last generation has a throwback to the 1st generation & become calm.
Would it be possible for several generations of white tiger to have a throwback & become regular tiger or not?
I aggree w/ u on W tiger prob.

I've heard that Bengal tigers are being bred like crazy in Texas - is this true?

I saw a white tiger cub a few years ago, when a man came into the grocery store I was working at. I guess he was from some sort of animal sanctuary (I have no idea if it was even legal for him to bring the cub in). Everyone was crowding around it, petting it; I let it gnaw on my hand. I did notice that it was sort of ugly.. I thought white tigers were supposed to be really beautiful. I had no clue until watching this vid that they are a result of inbreeding. Now I'm mortified of that memory. |
