I'm not sure how much they knew from the beginning as far as how many years would pass. Remember, some lived close to 1000 years of age in the beginning. To them, it would have only seemed like 6 generations before the redeemer would come. We know Enoch (Noah's granddad)prophesied about the redeemer coming in the distant future.(Interesting side note: Enoch named his son "Lamech" which means "when he dies it will come". Lamech was Noah's dad. When Lamech died, the flood came.

I hate to be sardonic but how come God did not give out his 1000yr=day formula during this story? Why must we and all the ancients wait for thousands of yrs to us 2 days to God for him to give us the decoder ring in Psalms? which BTW were written long after David. Did everybody know this formula back then like we know dog yrs now? I imagine with all the appearances that YHWH made to murder and destroy they must have. You should read "Is It God's Word?" by Joseph Wheless if you want your eyes 2C.

Gen 24 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created.
When YHWH God made the earth and the heavens- 5 and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for YHWH God had not sent rain on the earth
This again is the madness of a literal interpretation. This verse is after your literal 6 days and the same goes for the animals. YHWH couldn't figure out that Adam wouldn't find a water buffalo attractive vs20.

I spoke with him constantly. I went on mission trips around the world. I brought many souls to Christ. I was as sincere in my beliefs as you have ever been. But as I saw more of life and more of the world I realized how unjust it would be if a Buddhist monk who ONLY cares about making the world a better place is trumped by Ted Bundy who accepted Christ. There are many like me, John Loftus was a preacher and a apologist now a nonbeliever and an author against Xianity. The Faith you have is fear.

From the beginning of creation which includes the universe. Everything was created during the first literal 6 days of a 7 day week IN the first 1000year/day of a 7000years/week. So no, it's really not different. The stars, planets, sun, moon, earth, sky, light, plants, animals and man were all created during the first literal 6 (24 hour) days.

Just like Adam and Eve, you have been told the truth by God, in His Word, and have a choice to make. Just like Adam and Eve you can choose to believe the Creator or His fallen created creature.
I doubt very highly that you were ever in a personal realtionship with Jesus and talked with Him daily.

From the beginning of the Universe or from his beginning or from the beginning of the garden of Eden. All of these are different. Is it just the one that is convenient and fits with the modern interpretation. Did you know that there are between 100,000 and 400,000 variations in the Manuscripts we use to piece together the bible? I wonder how God could let things get that out of hand when he is trying so hard to save us?

Xians justifying the horrible acts written in the legends of their God is a full time job. I know that I was often bothered by the things God did when I was still A christian. Ultimately, Christians will have to approve of God destroying the whole earth and billions and billions of humans being tortured in the worst agony FOREVER! If the legends turn out to be true Hitler and Stalin will turn out to be men who acted like Gods and we will know truly how terrible the universe and its creator are.

Jesus the immortal God became mortal flesh and died like Adam. The Father raised Jesus from the dead, not letting Him see decay, just like He had promised Jesus He would. Thanks for the discussion. May Jesus bless you greatly.

It is unfortunately all conjecture. Jesus most certainly did not die like Adam! Jesus was an immortal god and immortal gods only die for 3 days when they become Human. Mithra, Tammuz etc. It is part of every dying god/man story. Also Jesus knowing this ahead of time made death completely different. Now of course I know that you know precisely what will happen to you but the rest of us aren,t so sure about talking snakes or magic Jewish gods who appear to be extremely skittish. |
