I live in the city where this organ is located. The acoustics of the cathedral combined with the magnificent sound of this organ makes such a beautiful and joyous sound. I have had the pleasure of hearing this organ in person, and it sounds amazing in person.

That Comfort Comfort Ye My People, I sit here in awe at that powerful organ. He has done this song great Justice. Very well played. I would have preferred a bit slower, but the way he ended that last verse it didn't matter to me anymore how slow it was. God has done good.
Amen

I just came from a concert this evening of Stephen Tharp played at the Stiftskirche in Stuttgart. The conert was fantastic and I think Mr. Tharp really enjoyed playing an outstanding European organ.

I purchased this CD as soon as I received the e-mail announcement, and I am thrilled beyond words! I love to hear and play the old hymns. In fact, I had recorded my own CD (on a much more modest instrument) and distributed it to parishioners. This JAV recording has some of the same hymns, but there is no comparison. Psalm 150 comes to mind.

There is no way around the fact this organ is spectacular. Nobody was better than Ernest M. Skinner at the craft of organ building. If only one could be given the opportunity to study his methods.

I totally agree with your statement. Simply this instrument is majestic. A commanding presence. |
