i agree with that. But there's a lot of party songs that were the shit and were timeless. Crank that soulja boy and get money is deff. not timeless songs like...between me and you, get it on the floor, give it to me is songs you could live with. The other two I just mentioned i wouldn't even want to remember those songs. I get what you mean because we need dance music just not in that form. thats why ppl say hip hop is dead.

I'm tired of people saying lil wayne and soulja boy ruined hip hop, it's ridiculous.
Soulja boy just did dance music, dance music isn't meant to send a message, it's just something you listen to in a club and dance to, just like some of lil waynes music. Do you think you could dance to hip hop has saved my life? Hell no, we need different music to dance to, so get your head out of your ass and stop saying it ruined hip hop.

I agree 100% but at the same time I think the fans were partly to blame because execs were giving us music that benefited them most and we continued to buy it for a time. Now that sales are down the fans are holding Hip Hop to a higher level of responsibility, and until it lives up to that we will keep seeing decline. Don't underestimate the fact that Hip Hop's negativity may be catching up with it either, as evidenced by recent events, the world wants change...

It depends on your definition of "death", it's arguable that true art-forms don't die bcuz in some way, shape, or form they will be remembered. Hip Hop is immortal bcuz of the impression it has left on the world(and not wit just music)think of how it penetrates culture (speech, clothing, thought).But considering what a prideful art-form Hip Hop is, fallin off is prolly worse than death. Things will improve new young artists with new thoughts are coming check out Nas' protege google "siditionist"

Wow, an educated response on youtube.lol. I completely agree with you, i just hate how people attribute the downfall of an art form such as hip-hop to a few artist. That is completely ridiculous. If anything it's the greedy label execs raping the culture for a greater profit by cheapening the meaning and sound from which it originated. agree? |
